Kalki 2898 AD arrives on OTT with shortened runtime: All deleted scenes from the streaming version

The highly-anticipated Telugu blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD , starring superstar Prabhas, made its much-awaited debut on OTT platforms on Thursday. However, the excitement of fans quickly turned to disappointment as they discovered that the streaming version of the film was noticeably shorter than the theatrical release.

Fans were quick to point out that the streaming version is over 5 minutes shorter, with a runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes compared to the original theatrical runtime of just over 3 hours. Hardcore fans of the movie took to social media to express their frustration, noting that several scenes featuring Prabhas, as well as a few memorable shots that were well-received by audiences in theatres, had been removed.

One dedicated fan even compiled a list of the missing scenes, highlighting the changes made in the streaming version. It appears that writer-director Nag Ashwin made these cuts after the film's theatrical release, potentially in response to feedback or to address issues he noticed post-release.

Kalki 2898 AD is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix . While the South Indian versions are streaming on Prime Video, the Hindi version is available on Netflix.

Despite the mixed reviews, Kalki 2898 AD has emerged as the biggest Indian blockbuster of 2024, grossing over Rs 1000 crore in global ticket sales. The film's success is attributed to its gripping storyline and the star-studded cast, which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Anna Ben in key roles. The movie ends on a cliffhanger, with Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's character, Supreme Yaskin, regaining powerful new abilities and vowing to hunt down his rivals personally.

The production of Kalki 2 is expected to start soon, though the filmmakers have yet to confirm its release plans. Fans are eagerly awaiting more details, hoping that the sequel will live up to the monumental success of the first film.
