The upcoming sci-fi spectacle Kalki 2898 AD is undoubtedly the most anticipated film in Indian cinema, which is set to make its global release on June 27, 2024. The futuristic film boasts an ensemble star cast including Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan. Ahead of the film’s grand release, the cast and crew of the film sat down to have an in-depth chat on their experiences working on the film in a now-released interview series titled The Kalki Chronicles Part 1. During the chat, the Big B also apologised to Prabhas’ fans. Read on to know what happened.
Amitabh Bachchan tells Prabhas’ fans - 'I apologise to you'
The film is set to narrate a futuristic story which combines elements of mythology and fantasy. From the glimpses and trailers, Amitabh Bachchan can be seen indulging in a massive battle with Prabhas’ character in the film. Referring to the fight sequences between the Big B and Prabhas, the veteran superstar recalled when director Nag Ashwin had approached him for the role in the film.
“When Nagi came to talk to me about this, he just brought a picture, a visual of what my character is going to look like and what Prabhas is going to look like. And I was this huge guy who’s shoving off The Prabhas. And all the fans of Prabhas, please, you know, please excuse me. Main haath jod ke maafi maang rahe hai (I fold my hands and apologise to you), don’t massacre me after you see what I do,” Amitabh Bhachchan said.
However, Prabhas quickly reassured that his fans loved him as well. “They are all your fans too,” the actor said.
The Bollywood icon also hailed director Nag Ashwin for bringing this mammoth vision into reality and cannot wait to witness the magic on June 27, 2024. “That was so impressive. I said, ‘He’s already got a vision in mind, he’s got a picture of what he’s going to look like. Very rarely do you see that,” Amitabh said.
Besides the lead cast, the film also stars Disha Patani, Anna Ben, Pasupathy, Shobana, Saswata Chatterjee, Brahmanandam and Malvika Nair in key roles.
