Joker: Folie A Deux - Zazie Beetz is in talks with the studio to reprise her role as Sophie Dumond in the upcoming sequel
Despite having only a small role in 2019s Joker, it seems the actress is in talks to return for the sequel.
Arthur and Sophie
The actress who was last seen in the recent Brad Pitt action comedy movie Bullet Train may return as Sophie Dumond in Todd Phillps' Joker sequel Folie à Deux.
According to a report by Deadline the actress is in talks to return for the sequel which is scheduled to start shooting in December.
In the movie, she played the role of Sophie Dumond, a single mother who lives in the same building as Arthur Flick and the two slowly start to grow closer but it is revealed at the end that it was just a dilution in Flick's mind.
Now Sophie's fate at the end of the movie was left ambiguous after she finds Joker sitting in her apartment, since the movie takes place in Arkham Asylum, she could return as an old member or another delusion in Joker's mind.
Folie A Deux is a condition that is generally defined as an identical or similar mental disorder affecting two or more individuals, usually the members of a close family.
Since the announcement that Lady Gaga will be playing the role of Psychiatrist turned Joker's girlfriend Harley Quinn, the movie will like it will explore her descent into madness at the Joker's hands.
Hopefully, we will get to know more details about the movie once filming starts at the end of the year.
As a result of the success of 2019s Joker lead actor, Joaquin Phoenix will be paid a salary of 20 million dollars for the sequel.
Joker: Folie A Deux is set to release on October 4, 2024.
