After a long wait, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan has finally hit the theatres today, i.e. September 7, 2023. Since the wee hours of the morning, fans have been flocking to theatres to watch the superstar in a never-before-seen avatar. The craze around the movie is much higher as Atlee actioner not only stars Shah Rukh but South sensations Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi too.
While it would be a long run at theatres considering the hysteria and advance booking status, the film will be available on the OTT platform, Netflix for streaming. As per reports, Jawan’s satellite rights has been sold for Rs 250 crore which includes its digital rights, satellite and music rights. Well, the exact OTT release date is not revealed, it is expected that the film will stream after a successful theatrical run of two months.
Jawan has released around 5500 screens in India, and 4500 screens in the international markets. Around 10,000 screens have been booked worldwide, making it one of the widest ever for an Indian Film. The film is expected to score a worldwide opening of Rs 110 to Rs 130 crore as per trade analysts. In India, the first-day collection may be in the range of Rs 70 crore. The advance booking collection closed on Wednesday night with the sale of 5,57,000 tickets, breaking the record of Pathaan, which has sold 5,56,000 tickets.
Backed by Red Chillies Entertainment, Jawan features Shah Rukh in the dual role of father and son. It boasts an ensemble cast with Nayanthara playing the role of a fearless cop, and Vijay Sethupathi as a menacing villain. The film also has Priya Mani, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, Ridhi Dogra, and others as the supporting cast. Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt will be seen in a cameo appearance. The film marks the Hindi debut of Atlee and music director Anirudh Ravichander. The film has been released in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
