Janhit Mein Jaari: Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer social comedy crashes at the box office on Day 5, mints Rs 2.8 crore
Directed by debutant Jai Basantu Singh and written by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the film follows the story of a young woman who takes up the challenging job of selling condoms in the small town of Madhya Pradesh.
Despite decent reviews, Nushrratt Bharuccha -starrer Janhit Mein Jaari failed to get that magic touch at the box office. The social comedy was slowly gaining steam in the first weekend, but its collection miserably dropped on the weekdays. The film has so far earned around Rs 3 crore at the box office.
The film opened to rather low numbers on Friday, i.e June 10, collecting Rs 43 lakh. It, however, showed a two-fold jump on Saturday grossing Rs 82 lakh. The Sunday numbers further rose to Rs 94 lakh to take the total opening weekend collection to a somewhat respectable Rs 2.2 crore. On Monday, the film again declined to gross only Rs 31 lakh, and Tuesday's collection shows even poorer numbers as per early estimates. The film has so far registered an overall business of approximately Rs 2.8 crore.
As per trade analysts, the 15-crore budgeted film is doing an ordinary business at the box office. Had it been an expensive film, then whatever the film is collecting now would have been just a loose change. However, the experts predict that if the theatrical business sustains a little bit, the OTT release would help cover the expenses. The film is likely to make a lifetime collection of Rs 4 to 5 crore if only the film hangs there.
Directed by debutant Jai Basantu Singh and written by Raaj Shaandilyaa , the film follows the story of a young woman who takes up the challenging job of selling condoms in the small town of Madhya Pradesh. The film is solely led by Nushrratt with Vijay Raaz, Anud Singh Dhaka, and Tinnu Anand in supporting roles.
The Desimartini review of the film read, “The movie began on a very promising note with writer Raaj Shaandilyaa blending the tongue and cheek humor along with the message in a conventional manner. However, the movie goes downhill primarily in the second half when more serious undertones come into play. It heavily relies on some highly preachy and amateurishly created circumstances to put forth its message.”
