Superstar Rajinikanth has created a massive frenzy among fans with Jailer upon its release in cinemas. The film marks the superstar's return to the screen after a gap of two years. For the first time, he collaborated with director Nelson Dilipkumar and promises a blockbuster with his power-packed performance alongside actors Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar, who played cameos. Twitter is abuzz with positive reviews of Jailer with fans calling it a ‘masterpiece’.
“Watching Rajinikanth play a simple family man in #Jailer was such a joyful exercise. I don't remember seeing the actor, whose characters always carried a larger-than-life aura, indulge in such 'normal' everyday activities. Only makes Muthuvel Pandian's resurgence more epic!” wrote a fan. One of the Twitter users commented, “A unique Rajini film. Rajini was swag max while my man Anirudh was in full form. Superficial emotions didn't work but a solid outing for Nelson after Beast (of course, the bar is low). There are flaws but will work well with the audience. More about it soon!”
The film focuses on the life of a jailer and how he stops a gang from helping their leader to escape from jail. The film also has Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah, Vinayakan and several others as part of the cast. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music for the movie. Further praising the movie, a Twitter user stated, “Without saying anything, one of the best decisions of #SuperstarRajinikanth to have chosen. #Jailer . God level sir. What was commendable is to see him act to #NelsonDilipkumar script and #Anirudh Era is truly in. #blockbusterJailer.” Another added, “#Jailer @rajinikanth Dhool yeahmovie! 2 continues shows today. Highly entertaining & first class rated. Since COVID, resurfaced with resurgence. This film got everything; family; fight; comedy; villainous; lots of guns & knives; kidnapping saga; forgery; antiques theft; etc.etc."
Backed by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures, Jailer hit the theatres on August 10, 2023.
