Jackie Shroff will be joining the cast of Rajinikanth's 'Jailer'

The star cast of Rajinknath's upcoming mass action movie Jaiiler keeps getting bigger and better, the latest addition to the star-studded cast is Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff .

This will be the second time Rajinikanth and Jackie Shroff will be working together after the 1987 Bollywood movie 'Uttar Dakshin'.

Uttar Dakshin was directed by Prabhat Khanna and starred Rajinikanth, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Bharati, and Anupam Kher.

As for Jailer , the movie will be the first time Rajinikanth will be working with director Nelson, The director's last movie was the Beast which starred Vijay in the lead role.

The release of Jailer was pushed back recently to avoid clashing at the box office with director Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Pooniyen Selvam 2.

The movie also cast Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar in a major role, marking the first time the actor will be sharing the screen with Rajinikanth and his Tamil debut.

Recently the director Nelson roped in Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for a cameo in the movie. The movie was announced by Sun Pictures in February and production officially started in July with shooting taking place in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore.

The movie has an ensemble cast that includes Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, and Vinayakan.

The music for the movie is composed by Anirudh, making it his third collaboration with Rajinikanth, after Petta and Darbar. Cinematography is handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan and R. Nirmal is in charge of the editing.

In Jailer Rajinikanth plays the role of a Muthuvel Pandian the warden of the notorious prison. However, the plot of the movie remains under wraps.

Jailer will be dubbed in all major Indian languages and is expected to hit theaters worldwide in August of 2023.
