Earlier, the makers had released several singles from the film, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, which received a positive reception. Although many argued that replacing AR Rahman, who had composed the soundtrack for the first installment, was a wrong choice, the release of the full OST (original soundtracks) changed their minds. Audiences praised Anirudh for his impressive compositions.

Kollywood's Ulaganayagan had heaped praise on music composer Anirudh Ravichander, who has composed music for his film Indian 2. However, earlier during the promotions of Indian 2, Kamal Haasan opened up about the makers replacing AR Rahman with Anirudh Ravichander. The actor said, “The choice for music composing rests in the hands of the director Shankar, and we are not involved in the decision.” He continued, “I have been a fan of Ilaiyaraaja and Rahman since I have been listening to their music for the past 30-40 years. I have just begun listening to Anirudh’s music and eventually, I might become his fan too.”
