After a disastrous theatrical reception, Kamal Haasan’s latest vigilante action drama has arrived on Netflix. Directed by S. Shankar, this sequel to the 1996 blockbuster received negative reviews upon its initial theatrical release. Less than a month later, Netflix announced the film's OTT debut. However, after netizens watched the film on smaller screens, it continued to be trolled and faced a fresh round of criticism from fans and X users.

Netizens brutally troll Indian 2

Several netizens have been sharing clips from the film online and have drawn comparisons to its first installment. Many users called out the film’s illogical stunt sequences and have been brutally trolling the makers for not thinking before adding those scenes to the film.

On the other hand, a supposedly emotional scene from the film, where Siddharth appears to break down in front of Kamal Haasan’s character, has been severely trolled for its poorly written dialogues. The actors, too, have been criticized for their awkward on-screen chemistry.

Overall, audiences have been having a field day with tons of memes and trolls made about the film.

One user wrote, “Tamil cinema's top director can't even show basic physics on screen. Smh.” Another user criticized Shankar’s screenplay and wrote, “Shankar heavily missing Sujatha is visible in this.”

For the unversed, Shankar used to collaborate with the late writer Sujatha, and together they delivered some of Kollywood's biggest hits, including Indian, and Enthiran. The last film they worked on together was Enthiran: The Robot, but Sujatha passed away in 2008 before the film's release.

How will Indian 3 be?

Moving forward, the makers are focusing on presenting the third installment of the film, Indian 3. While Indian 2 focuses on the present day and how corruption infiltrates society, Indian 3, which was also announced earlier, is set to explore the historical context and origins of Senapathy's life during British-ruled India.

The film will delve deeper into the story of Veerasekaran Senapathy, the father of Senapathy, and explore the origins of his character. Kajal Aggarwal is set to play Dhakshayini, a warrior during the British Raj, who was Veerasekaran’s wife and Senapathy’s mother.
