It's been a tough week for the makers of Indian 2. Neither Director S. Shankar nor Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan could save the film from the negative criticism it received from audiences and critics. The film, which revolves around the return of the iconic anti-corruption figure Senapathy, opened to decent numbers. However, it lost traction as the days went on. On Day 8 since its release, here’s how much the film has earned so far:

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Indian 2 got decent numbers in its opening collection but slowly witnessed a decline following the negative reviews.

On Day 8, the vigilante action drama’s collection is at Rs 1.15 crore, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 72 crore. The film earned approximately Rs 138 crore in the first week of its release and has now minted Rs 143 crore worldwide.

Indian 2 has clearly been struggling to reach the Rs 150 crore mark and might struggle even more to generate additional numbers or hit the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office, especially with other big releases such as Dhanush’s Raayan scheduled for the upcoming week.

Bobby Simha on Indian 2's negative reception

Recently, actor Bobby Simha, who plays a pivotal role in the film, defended Indian 2 amid the negative reviews the film has been receiving.

The actor stated that many people criticise the film to appear ‘intelligent’ and avoid admitting it's good. He said that the opinions of the general audience, especially families who enjoyed the movie, are what truly matter. He also noted that Indian 2 shouldn't be judged until Indian 3 is released.
