Malayalam star Tovino Thomas on Monday revealed the first look poster for his upcoming film Identity, which also stars Trisha and Vinay Rai. The poster, which positions Tovino in the centre with Trisha and Vinay Rai on either side, has a dark, thrilling vibe, resembling a three-headed beast. It sets the stage for a gripping narrative filled with puzzles, guns, and plenty of action.
The film marks Tovino’s second collaboration with directors Akhil Paul and Anas Khan, who previously directed him in Forensic (2020). Though Forensic received mixed reviews and didn’t break box office records, it established the directors’ knack for crafting stylish investigative thrillers. With Identity, the trio looks to build on that foundation.
This film has been envisioned as a trilogy, revealed the filmmakers earlier, though plot details remain under wraps.
The inclusion of actress Trisha in a key role adds to the excitement. This marks only her third Malayalam film, following her debut in Hey Jude (2018) and her role in Ram alongside Mohanlal, a project that has faced production delays.
Speaking about her decision to join the cast of Identity, Trisha shared her admiration for Malayalam cinema. "The main reason I am doing this film is my huge respect for Malayalam cinema. I know that cinema is global and pan-Indian, but to have a Malayalam film in your portfolio is a privilege. Malayalam cinema makes great content," Trisha told Mathrubhumi earlier.
As Tovino continues to celebrate the success of his latest release, Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM), which grossed over Rs 35 crore in its first four days, expectations for Identity are already building. The film is set to hit theatres later this year.
