HIT vs Shabaash Mithu box office: Rajkummar Rao's film shows a growth but same cannot be said for Taapsee Pannu starrer

This Friday (July 15) saw two much-awaited movies being released on the big screens. One was the Rajkummar Rao starrer HIT: The First Case while the other was Taapsee Pannu ’s sports biographical drama Shabaash Mithu . On their second day today (July 17), while Rajkummar’s movie has shown a massive improvement, Taapsee’s film is, unfortunately, struggling to perform.

Talking about HIT: The First Case, the film showcased a big growth on its second day. While the Rajkummar Rao starrer had a dismal opening of only Rs 1.35 crore at the box office, it seems that positive word of mouth has helped the movie to pick up some pace on its second day. According to the early estimates, the crime thriller flick has garnered between Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 3 crore which has now taken its total collections to Rs 4.35 crore. Things will look even more fruitful for the film if there are more such improvements in the collections in the upcoming days.

However, the same cannot be said for the Taapsee Pannu starrer sports biographical drama, Shabaash Mithu. The film started with a very disappointing opening of Rs 0.40 crore. While it was expected that it would slowly gain momentum in its first weekend, the film failed to perform. On its second day, the movie has amassed only between Rs 0.60 crore to Rs 0.65 crore. This is a very small growth which is not enough to give a push to the collections of the same and now the total profit stands at Rs 1 crore. One can only hope that things look brighter for the film in the upcoming days.

HIT: The First Case also stars Sanya Malhotra in the lead role. The movie is the Hindi remake of the Telugu film of the same name. On the other hand, Shabaash Mithu is based on the life of the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj . The movie has been helmed by Srijit Mukherji.
