Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil OTT release date: When and where to stream Prithviraj and Basil Joseph’s comedy entertainer

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph’s latest comedy entertainer Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, directed by Vipin Das, emerged as a major blockbuster among other Malayalam summer releases. The movie, starring Anaswara Rajan and Nikhila Vimal in the female lead roles, has grossed approximately Rs. 90 crore at the box office so far.  

As fans eagerly anticipate the OTT release of the Malayalam comedy entertainer, a major digital platform has just announced the digital debut of the latest Prithviraj-starrer. Here’s when and where the Vipin das directorial is set to hit the OTT space:  

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil on OTT

OTT giant Disney+ Hotstar took to their social media handles to announce that Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil will be available for streaming on the OTT platform starting from June 27, 2024. The film is expected to be streamed in multiple languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.

Directed by Vipin Das, this comedy entertainer follows the chaotic yet quirky tale of a wedding event. The movie received overwhelming responses for the commercial entertainment it offered compared to other intense dramas released this year.

 The movie stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Basil Joseph, Yogi Babu, Nikhila Vimal, Anaswara Rajan, Jagadish, Baiju Santhosh, and Rekha, among others. Tamil actor-comedian Yogi Babu made his Malayalam acting debut in this family entertainer. The movie’s original background score and soundtrack were composed by Ankit Menon. 

Prithviraj, Basil Joseph were not the first choices for the movie?

Viewers who watched Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil on the big screen cannot imagine any other pair portraying the roles so effortlessly played by Prithviraj and Basil Joseph. However, the actor duo was initially not the first choice! Surprisingly, the lead characters originally zeroed in were Biju Menon and Asif Ali. Biju Menon, in an interview for their last outing Thalavan, revealed this lesser-known fact about Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil. Without naming a specific film, they disclosed, “The film we turned down is now playing in cinemas." Instead, Biju Menon and Asif Ali chose to work together on Thalavan, a cop drama that is completely opposite to Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil.
