GoodLuck Jerry trailer: Janhvi Kapoor as an innocent Bihari woman turns badass drug dealer in comedy-drama
Directed by Siddharth Sen, GoodLuck Jerry is set to premiere on Disney+Hotstar on July 29.
The long-awaited trailer of Janhvi Kapoor starrer Goodluck Jerry is finally unveiled. The film showed Janhvi as an innocent Bihari woman who takes up the dangerous job of drug dealing to save her mother’s life. The upcoming black comedy drama is the remake of the 2018 Tamil film Kolamaavu Kokila that featured Nayanthara in the lead role.
About three-minute-long trailer opens up with Jaya Kumari played by Janhvi seeking work from a drug dealer gang. She addresses herself as ‘hum’ to which a gang member reasons out that she belongs to Bihar. However, the gang refuses to give her work telling her that job is not for a woman. In another scene, Janhvi is seen working as masseuse, but her life gets difficult when her mother, played by Mita Vashisht, gets diagnosed with lung cancer. Watch the trailer here:
Soon after Jaya turns badass Jerry and begins her journey as a drug dealer in order to save her mother. In one of the scenes, she can be heard saying, “hum jitne dikhte hain, utne hain nahi (Meet Jerry. And remember-- I am not how I look).” She embarks on lief-threatening journey with Deepak Dobriyal, who plays her admirer in the movie.
Directed by Siddharth Sen, the film’s trailer will likely draw a comparison of Janhvi’s character to that of Alia Bhatt ’s character of Kumari Pinky in the 2016 Udta Punjab . As both, the characters are set in Punjab and revolve around drugs. Backed by Subaskaran Allirajah, Aanand L Rai , and Mahaveer Jain, the film also has Sushant Singh , Sahil Mehta, and Saurabh Sachdeva in key roles. The makers have skipped its theatrical release and decided to premiere it on OTT platform Disney + Hotstar on July 29.
