Jawan: Leading the list is Shah Rukh Khan starrer actioner which performed exceptionally well at the box office. The film turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of the year, grossing Rs 640.25 crore in India and Rs 1160 crore worldwide.
Pathaan: The second position is also taken by Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan which grossed Rs 543 crore in India and Rs 1055 crore at the global box office. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film also has Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles.
Animal: The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna continue its dream run at the box office despite polarised reactions. The film has surpassed the Rs 800 crore mark globally. It has earned Rs 523 crore in India so far.
Gadar 2: The second instalment of the Gadar franchise managed to win the audience’s hearts as well as scored big numbers at the box office. The film recorded Rs 686 crore worldwide and Rs 525 crore at the domestic box office.
Jailer: The Tamil-language action comedy film directed by Nelson Dilipkumar featuring Rajinikanth in the lead role, raked in Rs 604 crore worldwide.
Leo: Leo featuring Vijay in the lead has transformed into one of the biggest hits in Tamil. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s directorial earned Rs 605 crore worldwide.
The Kerala Story: Directed by Sudipto Sen, The Kerala Story features Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani and Sonia Balani. The film grossed Rs 302 crore worldwide despite sparking controversies and protests in certain regions in India.
Ponniyin Selvan 2: Mani Ratnam’s epic historical action drama emerged to be a hit at the box office, grossing Rs. 345 crores worldwide and turning out to be the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023.
Varisu: The Tamil-language action drama film directed by Vamshi Paidipally, featuring Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna, grossed Rs 297 crore at the global box office.
Waltair Veerayya: The Telugu action comedy film took the cinematic world by storm with riveting visuals and a compelling narrative. The film, starring Chiranjeevi, recorded Rs 219 crore worldwide.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: Karan Johar returned to direction after a gap of seven years with a family drama featuring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The film crossed Rs 350 crore at the global box office. In India, the film managed to earn Rs 153 crore at the box office.
OMG 2: The satirical comedy-drama film, written and directed by Amit Rai, entered Rs 100 crore club despite mixed reviews. The film got an A certificate from CBFC but still managed a fair footfall in theatres, grossing Rs 221 crore across the world.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar: Directed by Luv Ranjan, the romantic comedy-drama featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor also minted moolah at the box office. The film earned Rs 223 crore at the global box office upon release.
Dream Girl 2: A spiritual sequel to the 2019 film Dream Girl, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, managed to earn Rs 142 crore worldwide.
Fukrey 3: The third installment of the Fukrey franchise and the sequel to Fukrey Returns (2017) sees the return of Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Richa Chadha and Pankaj Tripathi. Directed by Mrigdeep Singh Lamba, the film managed to earn Rs 127 crore worldwide.
Bholaa: The remake of the critically-acclaimed 2019 Tamil film Kaithi, Bholaa stars Ajay Devgn in the titular role alongside Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra, Gajraj Rao and Vineet Kumar.
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke: The romantic comedy film written and directed by Laxman Utekar featuring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan grossed Rs 116 crore.
Satyaprem Ki Katha: Directed by Sameer Vidwans, the film stars Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani in lead roles. The progressive film that rests on the towering performances, performed well at the box office despite average reviews. It grossed Rs 125 crore worldwide.
Sam Bahadur: The latest release Sam Bahadur, based on the life of first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, clashed with Animal at the box office. The film, however, managed to enter Rs 100 crore club. So far, the film has earned Rs 107 crore worldwide.
Carry On Jatta 3: The Punjabi comedy-drama, a sequel to both Carry on Jatta (2012) and Carry On Jatta 2 (2018), stars Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon and Sonam Bajwa in the lead roles. The film registered a lifetime collection of Rs 101 crore.
