Back in 2016, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association made the resolution of not collaborating with Pakistani artists post-Uri attack. As a result, several popular artists like Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan among others returned to their home country. In the latest development, the Bombay High Court has lifted a ban imposed on them from working in India.

The court recently rejected the petition filed by a cine worker imposing a ban on Pakistani artists from working in India. The court observed that the petition lacked merit and was a retrograde step in promoting cultural harmony, unity and peace. The court ruled that “activities promoting peace, harmony, and tranquillity, including arts, music, sports, culture, and dance, transcend national boundaries and contribute to unity and harmony within and between nations.” as per reports.

Last year, Fawad spoke about the possibility of working in India. “I think it’s more of a question of whether someone else would like to work with me, instead of me working with others, because fingers will be pointed at them. I’ll do my work and go away but then the people who’ll have to suffer are those who want to collaborate with me. And I care about them because they are going to live there, and they’re going to suffer the consequences,” he had told Variety. The actor featured in Indian films like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Kapoor & Sons.

Meanwhile, several Pakistani artists have contributed to the Indian entertainment industry in one or other ways. Mahira Khan featured in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees, while Saba Qamar worked opposite Irrfan Khan’s Hindi Medium. Ali Zafar starred in Tere Bin Laden, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Dear Zindagi, Kill Dil, Chashme Badoor and many more. Musicians Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan have given us several chartbusters.
