Ela Veezha Poonchira director Shahi Kabir’s next film with Roshan Mathew and Dileesh Pothan begins shooting

After making his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film Ela Veezha Poonchira, writer-director Shahi Kabir is now gearing up for his second project. The makers of his untitled film, starring Roshan Mathew and Dileesh Pothan, have officially announced the start of shooting. Taking to their social media handles, they wrote, "Festival Cinemas proudly announces its Production No. 1, written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Shahi Kabir. This cinematic journey will showcase the incredible talents of Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew in the lead roles." Reportedly, the film is set to be shot in a single schedule at Iritty in Kannur, Kerala. 

Shahi Kabir’s sophomore film cast

Shahi Kabir’s next film is a drama thriller, featuring acclaimed actors Roshan Mathew and Dileesh Pothan in the lead roles. In addition to the lead cast, the film will also include Rajesh Madhavan, Sudhi Koppa, Arun Cherukavil, Lakshmi Menon, Krisha Kurup, and Nandan Unni in supporting roles. On the technical front, Anil Johnson is composing the original soundtrack and background score, and Praveen Mangalath is the editor. He will also be reuniting with cinematographer Manesh Madhavan, who previously won the Kerala State Award for Best Cinematographer for his work on Shahi Kabir's Ela Veezha Poonchira.

Shahi Kabir: A writer-turned-director

Shahi Kabir gained fame for writing M Padmakumar's hit film Joseph (2018) and Martin Prakkat's blockbuster thriller Nayattu (2021). He later ventured into directing with the 2022 film Ela Veezha Poonchira. While Nayattu earned him the National Award for Best Original Screenplay, Ela Veezha Poonchira won him the Best Debut Director award at the Kerala State Film Awards. 

Roshan Mathew’s upcoming projects

Roshan Mathew is currently basking in the success of winning this year's Kerala State Film Award for Best Dubbing Artist for Ullozhukku. He will next be seen in Ithiri Neram, directed by Prasanth Vijay, and Chera, directed by Lijin Jose. 

On the other hand, Dileesh Pothan, who has a string of projects in his lineup, will be next seen in Aashiq Abu's Rifle Club, Boban Samuel's Machante Maalakha, Amal K Joby's Gumasthan and Girish A D's I Am Kathalan.
