GOTG 3
The early box office predictions for the third installment in the franchise are here and the moive is expected to gross somewhere between 120 to 155 million from US markets.
This gives Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3 the best opening estimations of the franchise. Currently, Vol 2 has the highest opening with 146 million.
These numbers are a good sign for Marvel, who are desperate for a blockbuster mainly due to the mixed reception the last few MCU movies have received both critically and commercially.
The movie will be the last GOTG movie that will be directed by James Gunn, who will be busy now that he is running DC Studios along with Peter Safran.
The director had hinted that this will be the last time we see the original Guardians team up hinting at the death of one or more beloved characters.
In the movie, the guardians will be facing off against the High High Evolutionary(Chukwudi Iwuji) a genius scientist who is obsessed with genetic modifications and wants to unlock the next step in evolution.
He has altered himself thus giving himself super strength and speed as well as the power to evolve and devolve lifeforms at will, making him one of the most powerful villains the team has faced.
And of course, fans are also hyped for the MCI debut of Adam Warlock(Will Poulter), who was created by Sovereign as the perfect being and who has now been tasked with finding and killing the guardians.
From the recent trailer for the movie, it is clear that the High Evolutionary has a connection to Rocket Racoon's past and is most likely the person who took him from Earth and experimented on him.
The movie boasts a star-studded cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
