Dunki Drop 1
The much-awaited first glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki has finally been unveiled today, i.e. on the superstar's birthday. Helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film marks Shah Rukh’s first collaboration with the director. The film also stars Taapsee Pannu and Boman Irani. The surprise element is indeed Vicky Kaushal.
About two-minute-long clip starts with six people including Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu walking together in a desert while a man aims to shoot them. Next follows a scene of a Punjabi boy, Buggu Lakhan Pal takes an oath that if he ever dreams of going to London, his grandmother will die, and actually she dies. Then Shah Rukh is seen dancing on the streets with a crowd wearing a loose kurta. He is seen turning a person upside down and later gets himself the same treatment on the wrestling ground. He is also seen sharing a fun banter with Boman Irani in a few scenes.
The short clip didn’t divulge much details of the film except for introducing the characters. While Shah Rukh plays Hardy, Taapsee Pannu features as Manu and Boman Irani as Gulati. The other two funny characters Buggu and Balli are also introduced. However, the surprise package is none other than Vicky Kaushal who plays the role of Sukhi in the film. Towards the end of the clip, Shah can be heard saying that Buggu, Balli, Manu and Sukhi are like his family, who want to go to London. Next, he makes special mention of Taapsee’s character and discusses his kids’ names with a doctor apparently. Going by the short clip, Shah Rukh’s mannerisms and personality traits of his character Hardy resemble those of his roles in his past films Fan and Zero.
Sharing the video, SRK wrote on X, "A story of simple and real people trying to fulfill their dreams and desires. Of friendship, love, and being together... Of being in a relationship called Home! A heartwarming story by a heartwarming storyteller. It's an honour to be a part of this journey and I hope you all come along with us. " Backed by Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is set to arrive in theatres on Christmas 2023.
