Drishyam 3: Jeethu Joseph has started work on Mohanlal-starrer, Antony Perumbavoor confirms

Jeethu Joseph's Drishyam, starring Mohanlal, is one of the most appreciated Malayalam films across the country. After the stupendous success of Drishyam and Drishyam 2, anticipation is high for the third part of the Malayalam thriller film. Now, the film's producer Antony Perumbavoor has confirmed that Drishyam 3 is in the works.

Jeethu Joseph has started the groundwork for Drishyam 3, Antony Perumbavoor confirmed in a long post on social media recently. He also said that Jeethu Joseph has held discussions with Mohanlal.

While acknowledging the hype for the third part, he wrote, “Today, the anticipation for Drishyam 3 is a topic of discussion not just in Kerala but globally."

Recalling the phenomenal success of the film series, Antony Perumbavoor has said that Drishyam has been a turning point for Aashirvad Cinemas.

"Drishyam, the 17th production of Aashirvad Cinemas, marked a turning point in our journey. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, it was the first collaboration between Jeethu, Lal sir, and me," he wrote. The first Drishyam was released on December 19, 2013.

‘Drishyam rights continue to be sought after’

The 2013 Malayalam film and its sequel in 2021 have been remade in several other languages, including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Almost all of these remakes have been able to replicate the original's success. And now fans are eagerly waiting for any update on Drishyam 3 and there have been fan theories about the film would feature the likes of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Asif Ali.

“Each remake stayed true to the original’s emotional depth and suspense, becoming a hit in its own way. Even today, the rights for Drishyam continue to be sought after, a testament to its universal appeal,” Antony remarked.

He gave the credit for the phenomenal success of Drishayam to Jeethu’s unparalleled storytelling, Mohanlal's brilliant portrayal of Georgekutty, and the synergy of the entire team.

Drishyam plot

Mohanlal plays the lead role of Georgekutty, an ordinary person who leads a happy life with his wife and two daughters. A series of events leads to a crime being committed accidentally, and the family comes under the scanner of the police. Now, Georgekutty must do all that he can to save his family.
