Dream Girl 2 Box Office Day 4: Ayushmann Khurrana starrer gets hit by Monday blues, sees a dip before Raksha Bandhan

Ayushmann Khurrana is not only the king of content, but also the prince of the box office. This is because his films win hearts, along with raking in a whopping amount at the ticket windows. We expected nothing less from his latest outing Dream Girl 2. Co-starring Ananya Panday in the lead, this comedy drama beat the opening day collection of Dream Girl. It emerged as Ayushmann’s biggest opener till date and went on to do wonders on the opening weekend. By the end of Sunday, the total collection made by Dream Girl 2 stood at Rs 40.71 crore.

But sadly on day 4 of release, Dream Girl 2 was hit by a serious case of Monday Blues. After raking in Rs 14.02 crore on Saturday and Rs 16 crore on Sunday, it witnessed a dip and collected only Rs 5.42 crore on Monday. Sharing an update on the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: “#DreamGirl2 posts a HEALTHY TOTAL on the make-or-break Mon [reduced ticket rates on weekdays]… Major centres continue to drive its biz… Should cross the HALF-CENTURY mark today [Tue; Day 5]… Fri 10.69 cr, Sat 14.02 cr, Sun 16 cr, Mon 5.42 cr. Total: ₹ 46.13 cr. #India biz. As mentioned earlier, the #RakshaBandhan holiday on Wed [30 Aug 2023] should witness a spike in biz. #Boxoffice.”

Ayushmann and Ananya’s film now has just over a week with the Rakhi holiday in between to rise high from its ashes like a phoenix until Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan releases in theatres on 7th September. Helmed by Atlee Kumar, it is one of the most awaited films of the year. So far, Dream Girl 2 is busy winning hearts. Ananya and Ayushmann’s fresh on-screen chemistry is a major reason why. But the highlight is definitely Ayushmann’s incredible performance as Pooja, the OG Dream Girl.
