Dream Girl 2 Box Office Day 1: Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday beat part one’s collection, rake in THIS much

The past one year has been pretty fruitful for Bollywood, with several releases which broke box office records. Well, it has been just one day since Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday starrer Dream Girl 2 arrived in theatres, but it seems like the movie is going to be the latest addition to the list of hits this year. Two days before release, the box office prediction based on advance booking numbers suggested a collection of Rs 9 crore on day 1. This was lesser than the collection made by part 1 of the film, which was Ayushmann’s biggest opener with Rs Rs 10.05 crore before Bala released.

However, the final amount collected by Dream Girl 2 on opening day has surpassed the prediction as well as the first day collection of 2019’s Dream Girl. Sharing an update about the collection of day one, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: “⭐️ Now the enthusiastic start of #DreamGirl2 has helped in the REVIVAL of #Bollywood. #DreamGirl2 starts VERYYY WELL on Day 1… The growth in biz [post 4 pm onwards] clearly indicates that a strong weekend is on the cards… Fri ₹ 10.69 cr. #India biz. The continuous flow of successes has brought joy and optimism back… YES, #Bollywood is back with a bang!”

With the collection of Rs 10.69 crore, Dream Girl 2 has become Ayushmann’s new biggest opener. That’s not all! Dream Girl 2 has also beaten Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s hit film OMG 2, which had raked in Rs 10.26 crore on the day of release. This is definitely a huge feat achieved by Ayushmann and Ananya’s film, especially considering that it released while OMG 2 and Gadar 2 were enjoying their successful run at the box office.
