Double iSmart out on OTT: Here’s where you can stream Ram Pothineni’s latest sci-fi action film

After a disastrous theatrical debut, Telugu actor Ram Pothineni’s latest film Double iSmart has finally made its OTT debut. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, this latest action drama, starring Ram Pothineni, Sanjay Dutt, and Kavya Thapar, is the spiritual sequel to Ram Pothineni’s 2019 film iSmart Shankar. However, unlike the first installment, which was a blockbuster, Double iSmart failed to attract audiences and garnered mostly negative reviews from viewers. 

Double iSmart out on Prime Video

After a theatrical run of less than a month, the sci-fi action has finally made its digital debut. Double iSmart is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Although the makers did not promote the film’s OTT release, nor was an OTT release date announced, viewers can now find the film available for streaming on the platform. The film is available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. 

Interestingly, the digital rights for the Ram Pothineni-starrer were sold to Prime Video for a whopping Rs 33 crore. However, the film managed to earn only Rs 19 crore against its Rs 90 crore budget. 

Negative reception for Double iSmart

Upon its release, the film received underwhelming responses from viewers and critics, alike, who criticized the makers for delivering an illogical and loud drama that lacked substance. Ram Pothineni’s character was also criticized, with audiences pointing out that the crass jokes and cliched dialogues made the film uncomfortable to watch. Despite boasting a stellar star cast, the film failed to appeal to audiences, leading to its disastrous box office performance. However, now it’s time for OTT audiences to watch the film and share their thoughts.

Ram Pothineni’s role in Double iSmart

Leading man Ram Pothineni underwent a significant transformation to get into character as Shankar in the film. He reportedly traveled to Bali, Indonesia, where he focused entirely on his physical transformation. “I had to prepare for the shoot in just two months since we were starting with the climax. Given the intensity of the scene, I had to quickly get ready for the role,” Ram explained, detailing how he went from 86 kilos to 68 kilos.
