‘Disco King’ Bappi Lahiri’s son Bappa Lahiri plans to preserve his glorious gold collections, says ‘he was spiritually connected with it’
Bappi Lahiri's son Bappa Lahiri recently spoke about the family's plans about his late father's illustrious gold collections. The music composer and singer was known to flaunt an extravagant gold collection.

Veteran singer Bappi Lahiri ’s unfortunate demise at 69 on February 15 this year was a huge loss for the entire music fraternity. Apart from his charbusters, he was also known for flaunting his illustrious gold collection. The late music director and singer had become synonymous with gold and now his son Bappa Lahiri has revealed the family’s plans with his father’s gold collections. Bappa has said that he and his family plans to preserve his father’s gold.
Talking to India Today about the same, Bappa Lahiri said, “Those gold pieces were not just fashioned statements for dad, it was lucky for him. From Vatican City to Hollywood, he collected each of those gold pieces from around the world. He used to find something which he would like to wear and turned it into gold.”
Bappa Lahiri furthermore added that Bappi Lahiri was spiritually connected with his gold and that it was like a temple to him. Bappa said, “He never travelled without it. Even if it was a 5 am flight, he would wear all the gold. It was like his temple and his power, he was spiritually connected with it. So we are going to preserve it. That was his favourite thing. We want people to see his things, so we might put them in a museum. He had a collection of shoes, sunglasses, hats, watches, and jewellery which he loved and we would love to showcase it.”
Bappi Lahiri reportedly passed away due to obstructive sleep apnea. He had crooned many hit songs like ‘Yaad Aa Raha’, ‘Pyaar Bina Chain’, ‘Tune Maari Entriyaan’, ‘Disco Dancer’ and many more. Bappa Lahiri also said in the same interaction that his late father wished actor Ranveer Singh to work on his biopic if it was made in the future. However, there have been no confirmed plans till now about the same.
