Dhoom had a lot more 'Shikdum' between Abhishek Bachchan and Rimi Sen; here's why their explicit romantic scenes were hacked

Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham starrer Dhoom with millennial classic from Bollywood the ‘cool factor’ of which was so high that we will probably never get over it. Apart from the bikes, heist and John Abharam’s hairstyle the film had many more reasons to command its own fan club and one of the things was making a bold move to steam things up on the romance front in commercial Bollywood films.

Dhoom’s song ‘Shikdum’ featuring leads Abhishek Bachchan and Rimi Sen was one of the steamiest romantic tracks of the time what got many people talking. But did you know that the two actors had filmed a lot more bold and explicit scenes than what ended up featuring in the movie?

Filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi had apparently filmed a lot more steamy sex scenes between Abhishek and Rimi but later decided to chop them off from the final edit fearing how those would received by the Indian audience.

Well, given the film is an action thriller it was probably the right call. However, the song Shikdum did end up becoming the talk of the town upon Dhoom’s release among the many things that fans loved about the movie.

While Abhishek went on to headline two more Dhoom films which were even bigger than the original, Rimi quit the Dhoom franchise after Dhoom 2. Years later in an interview admitted that she did several big films including Dhoom she felt like furniture in all of them.

The original Dhoom completes 18 years since its release today. The movie gave Abhishek his first blockbuster after a string of flops while it put John Abraham on the map as one the most popular stars in the industry after playing the villain. Esha Deol and Uday Chopra also earned a lot of attention in the film with their roles but the actress didn’t return for others film of the franchise which were much bigger in scale.
