Tamil star Dhanush announced on Friday that his next directorial venture, titled Idly Kadai, will be released worldwide on April 10 next year.
Dhanush has been carving his own path, balancing multiple roles in his movie career and setting new standards for himself. Earlier this year, he delivered a hit with Raayan, which he wrote, directed, and starred in, marking his 50th film.
Following that success, he took on Idly Kadai, a film he has written, directed, and is also producing under his home banner, Wunderbar Films. In addition to directing and producing, Dhanush also stars in the lead role.
Unlike the powerful-sounding titles filmmakers often choose to capture audience interest, Dhanush’s decision to name the movie Idly Kadai, which has a warm, nostalgic feel, has piqued curiosity among moviegoers. The posters, presented as oil paintings, suggest an intimate, slice-of-life story likely set in a village backdrop. However, specific details about the movie’s plot or characters remain under wraps.
Alongside Dhanush, Idly Kadai also features Nithya Menen and Shalini Pandey.
In addition to Idly Kadai, Dhanush has also directed a romantic comedy with a cast of fresh faces titled Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, which is now in post-production and expected to be released in December, though an official confirmation is still awaited.
Meanwhile, Dhanush will also be seen next in director Sekhar Kammula's Kubera and director Aanand L. Rai's Tere Ishk Mein. While Kubera is currently in post-production, the filming for Tere Ishk Mein, which is touted as a spiritual sequel to Raanjhanaa, is yet to commence.
