Tamil star Dhanush watched the first day, the first show of his latest movie Raayan in a theatre in Chennai. Accompanied by his co-actor S. J. Suryah, Dhanush enjoyed the experience along with his fans. The video shows an electrifying atmosphere inside the theatre as the movie seems to have struck a chord with audiences.

Dhanush looked overjoyed witnessing the reception to Raayan, which is his 50th movie. It’s a special feat for him, and he seems content with how it’s turning out.

Earlier, speaking at Raayan's audio release event, Dhanush revealed he was unwilling to entrust the responsibility of helming the film to another filmmaker. Hence, he decided to take it upon himself to write and direct his milestone movie to ensure it also becomes a memorable moment in his filmography.

Judging from initial reactions to Raayan, Dhanush seems to have achieved what he set out to do. "Dhanush is forced to make several contrived choices to contain the running time of the movie. However, he makes up for this with beautifully shot and well-choreographed action sequences. Watch out for the interval action block. It's short but leaves a lasting impression on the mind. There are also many comedic moments, especially when SJ Suryah expresses great eagerness to learn how Raayan carried out a high-profile murder. Dhanush knows what the audience wants, and he delivers," read a 3-star review from Desimartini.

Bankrolled by Sun Pictures, Raayan revolves around four siblings and the fast-changing power dynamics among them. Dhanush plays an impassive elder brother who is willing to go to any extent to protect his family. Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman's background score and songs have already become a big hit with audiences.

Raayan also stars Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, and Dushara Vijayan, among others.
