Jr NTR’s highly anticipated film Devara is creating more hype as its release date approaches. The film recently passed its censor formalities, with the Koratala Siva directorial receiving a U/A certification and a runtime of 178 minutes (2 hours and 58 minutes).

Censor Board asks Devara team to make these changes

However, the censor board has instructed a few changes and cuts before the film's release. One significant change involved modifying a scene where a character kicks his wife and mother. Additionally, the board asked the filmmakers to remove a five-second shot of a hanging body.

The makers were also instructed to add a disclaimer for a scene in which Jr NTR is shown riding a shark, clarifying that the shark was created using CGI.

After implementing these changes, Devara was approved for release. The upcoming sea-action film will be released on September 27, 2024, in its original Telugu language, along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

    Devara trailer gets mixed reception

While fans eagerly await the action spectacle featuring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, many viewers felt that the trailer did not meet their expectations. The trailer, released earlier, introduced Jr NTR as Devara, a fierce and ruthless character who instills fear in others. Narrated by Prakash Raj, the trailer hinted at intense drama. It also teased audiences with impressive visual effects, setting the tone for a grand cinematic spectacle. Saif Ali Khan’s character, Bhaira, appears as the antagonist, whose sole motive is to kill Devara. The coastal backdrop, combined with dramatic action, amplifies the power-packed drama set to unfold. However, some netizens pointed out issues such as disappointing dubbing quality and lacklustre VFX, which failed to generate organic interest in the film.

Nonetheless, we will have to wait until September 27, 2024, to see the final verdict. Will Devara be a hit or miss?

    Devara's record-breaking pre-sales

According to recent reports, a U.S. distributor revealed that pre-sales for the film have already exceeded $1 million, revealing the immense anticipation and positive buzz surrounding its release. Earlier, the makers announced that over 15,000 tickets had been sold in the U.S., generating $500K in pre-sales. Now, the film has crossed the $1 million mark and sold over 30,000 tickets, further boosting fans' confidence in its strong box office potential ahead of its U.S. theater debut. With less than 15 days until release, growing excitement and Jr NTR's massive fan base have contributed to this remarkable milestone.

Directed by Koratala Siva, Devara also features Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain, Kalaiyarasan, Murali Sharma, and Abhimanyu Singh in supporting roles.
