Despite Kanguva’s failure, Suriya makes first public appearance to cheer for Bala film Vanangaan
Filmmaker Bala and Suriya were initially supposed to team up for Vanangaan, but the project did not materialize and was later taken up by Arun Vijay in the lead role. Suriya recently attended the pre-release event of the film and here's what the actor had to say...
Suriya and Bala at Vanangaan pre-release event
Tamil star Suriya had anticipated an amazing year with the release of the much-hyped period fantasy flick Kanguva. However, things did not go as planned, as the film received highly negative reviews, leading to its failure at the box office. While rumors suggested that Suriya might not attend the pre-release event for filmmaker Bala and actor Arun Vijay’s upcoming film Vanangaan, the Tamil actor surprised everyone with his gracious presence at the event.
Suriya credits Bala for paving the way for opportunities
The actor credited Bala for paving the way for pivotal opportunities in his career. He shared that during the filming of Pithamagan, he gained invaluable acting lessons from director Bala every day. Suriya acknowledged that without Bala’s support and guidance, he wouldn’t have reached his current position.
“If not for Nandha, there wouldn’t have been Kaakha Kaakha, and without Kaakha Kaakha, no Vaaranam Aayiram and so on. Thank you, Bala sir, for recognizing my potential and introducing me as a noteworthy talent in Tamil cinema,” Suriya expressed.
The Kanguva star called Vanangaan a pathbreaking film and said, “Vanangaan will be a landmark film in Tamil cinema. I believe future generations will have much to learn from it. Best wishes to Arun Vijay for this project.”
Suriya was the first choice for Vanangaan
For the unversed, Vanangaan was initially offered to Suriya. However, when Suriya backed out due to creative differences, Arun Vijay was brought on board. Director Bala stated, “I didn't want to let down my younger brother (Suriya), who believes in me and respects me so much. So, after mutual discussion, we decided to let Suriya step away from the film.”
