Coolie: Sathyaraj to reunite with Rajinikanth after 38 years, will play THIS role in Lokesh Kanagaraj's film

Tamil actor Sathyaraj is all set to star in Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming action thriller Coolie. The Baahubali actor has confirmed the speculations about this collaboration and also dropped a major revelation on his role in the film, as per the latest reports.  

Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth to reunite after 38 years

The Tamil actor will be reuniting with the superstar after a hiatus of 38 years! Yes, you read that right! Sathyaraj, who worked with Rajinikanth in several films in the 80s, has not collaborated with the Superstar for nearly 40 years. However, it looks like Sathyaraj has changed his plans to co-star with Rajinikanth in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action thriller.  

Reports reveal that the actor has been roped in to play the role of Rajinikanth’s confidant/friend in the upcoming movie. Interestingly, Sathyaraj was initially cast as the antagonist in Shankar's 2007 directorial Sivaji, starring Rajinikanth, but he declined the offer.  

For the unversed, during a protest over the Cauvery issue, Sathyaraj gave a strong speech that some saw as a criticism of Rajinikanth, leading to friction among their fans. Despite this, Sathyaraj has repeatedly mentioned in interviews that he respects Rajinikanth as a superstar.

Now, it looks like the actor has buried the hatchet and will be seen sharing screen space with the superstar very soon! The new update has generated a lot of excitement among fans who have been waiting for the veteran duo’s collaboration for a long time. 

Coolie – speculated cast

Besides Sathyaraj, actresses Shobana and Shruti Haasan have been reportedly roped in to play pivotal roles in the film. Mic Mohan, Ranveer Singh, Nagarjuna and many others are also rumoured to be part of the grand project. Recently, Sivakarthikeyan was also spotted alongside Coolie writers and director Lokesh himself, further strengthening the rumours about his involvement in the project. An official announcement of the cast and crew is expected to be released very soon.

Coolie shoot to start soon

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the upcoming movie will go on the floors in the first week of June. The makers have stated that the shoot will continue till early next year and will be filmed across many locations around the world. Earlier, the maker had dropped an explosive title teaser, featuring Rajinikanth fighting goons. The monochromatic-themed teaser won many hearts, with fans eagerly awaiting the film’s release on big screens! Coolie's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
