CONFIRMED: Dhanush's DD4 is titled Idly Kadai; actor unveils new poster of his fourth directorial venture

It’s official! Dhanush’s fourth directorial is now titled Idly Kadai. The actor took to his social media pages to reveal the title poster of the film, captioning it, “The wait is over! #D52 is officially titled Idly Kadai.” With this, the makers officially launched the multi-talented actor’s fourth directorial venture.

The new poster showcases a painting of a street food stall in a rural backdrop, where a boy is seen working while another boy stands outside the stall. The intriguing poster has piqued the interest of fans, who are excited to uncover details about Dhanush’s next project.

Moreover, the title Idly Kadai translates to Idli Shop in Tamil, but what exactly is the film about? Will it be a rural drama or a complete action film like the actor’s last directorial Raayan? We may have to wait patiently to learn more details about this project.

Directed by Dhanush, the film features his Thiruchitrambalam co-star Nithya Menen as the female lead, while Arun Vijay plays the antagonist. Actors Ashok Selvan and Raj Kiran will also be playing pivotal roles. On the technical side, the original background score and soundtracks are composed by GV Prakash Kumar, marking his collaboration with Dhanush after the actor’s third directorial Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (yet to be released). Cinematography is handled by Kiran Koushik, with Prasanna GK serving as the editor. The film is jointly produced by Dhanush’s home banner Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures in their maiden collaboration.

Nithya Menen on Idly Kadai

Nithya Menen had earlier revealed key details about collaborating on the film. The actress shared that her character is based in a village setting, which she finds quite exciting. While she refrained from sharing more about the plot, she expressed her joy in being part of the project and mentioned her enthusiasm for taking on a challenging role. “Just like Shobana’s character from Thiruchitrambalam, this character is also very new to me, and it’s a challenging one to portray. But I’m excited to be part of it,” she said.

For the unversed, Nithya and Dhanush last worked together in the 2022 film Thiruchitrambalam, for which she won a National Film Award for Best Actress.
