Bougainvillea postponed to make way for Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan
While Malayali audiences were anticipating a major clash between director Amal Neerad's film Bougainvillea and superstar Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan this Dussehra season, a new update has eased the tension among fans!
To allow for the solo release of Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan in Kerala, the makers of the Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban film Bougainvillea have now announced that the film will release on October 17, 2024. Taking to social media handles, the makers shared a new poster from the upcoming Malayalam film, revealing the revised release date.
For those unversed, Bougainvillea was initially scheduled to clash with Rajinikanth's star-studded cop drama Vettaiyan on October 11, 2024. To avoid a box-office clash that could possibly disrupt the business of both films, the makers of Bougainvillea chose to release their film a week after Vettaiyan's big debut.
Interestingly, both films feature Fahadh Faasil, marking a significant double release for the actor this Dussehra season.
Recently, the makers dropped a hit single from the film titled Sthuthi. Composed and sung by sensational music director Sushin Shyam, the song brings a contemporary vibe to a hymn on Christianity. The song also features a quirky dance by lead actors Jyothirmayi and Kunchacko Boban.
Bougainvillea cast and crew
Headlined by Kunchacko Boban and Fahadh Faasil, Bougainvillea will also feature Sharaf U Dheen, Jyothirmayi, Veena Nandakumar, and Srinda in key roles. According to the sources, Fahadh Faasil will appear in an extended cameo, while Kunchacko Boban plays the antagonist.
The screenplay has been co-written by Lajo Jose and Amal Neerad. On the technical front, cinematography is handled by Anend C Chandran, and editing is carried out by Vivek Harshan. The film is produced under the banners of Amal Neerad Productions and Udhaya Pictures.
Bougainvillea also marks the return of actress Jyothirmayi after a hiatus of 11 years. She was last seen in the 2013 film Urava.
