Bottle Radha release date: Guru Somasundaram’s comedy drama to hit the big screens on this day

    After much anticipation, the makers of Guru Somasundaram’s upcoming film Bottle Radha have finally announced its release date. Taking to social media, the team revealed that the film will hit theaters on December 20, 2024.

    Announcing the release, they wrote, “Mark the date! An emotional and chaotic storm is on its way. #BottleRadha will be yours worldwide from December 20. #BottleRadhaFromDec20. A film by @Dhinakaranyoji, a @RSeanRolda musical, produced by @beemji under #NeelamProductions @balloonpicturez #ArunBalaji.”

    The announcement was accompanied by a quirky poster featuring Guru Somasundaram sitting atop an enormous trowel, with a bottle of alcohol and a glass beside him. A potted plant and a dog are also pictured next to the main character, who appears to be laughing in an exaggerated manner. This intriguing poster has piqued audience interest, with many speculating that the actor might be portraying a construction worker in the film.

    Produced by Pa Ranjith under his home banner Neelam Productions, the movie is directed by debutant Dhinakaran Sivalingam, who previously worked as an assistant to Pa Ranjith on films like Kabali and Kaala. Sanchana Natarajan will play Guru Somasundaram's wife in the film.

    Based on the teaser released earlier, the film centers around Guru Somasundaram's character, Radha, a chronic alcoholic. Touted to be a comedy-drama, the story follows Radha’s struggle with his addiction. Due to his drinking, his wife sends him to rehab, where he finds it difficult to adapt to the facility’s strict rules, driving him towards a desperate escape plan. The story explores Radha’s struggle and the challenging journey he undertakes in pursuit of a better life. Bottle Radha was previously screened at the 12th Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) in 2023.

    The film also features John Vijay, Merku Thodarchi Malai Antony, and Lollu Sabha Maaran in supporting roles. The film will be released in both Tamil and Malayalam.
