'Bollywood waalo sharam karo' : Netizens aren't pleased with Akshay Kumar's Cuttputlli being a remake of Tamil film Ratsasan
Akshay Kumar earlier today announced his crime thriller flick Cuttputlli which is touted to be the Hindi remake of the blockbuster Tamil film Ratsasan. While some fans were left excited for the film which will see a direct-to-OTT release on September 2, other netizens weren’t that amused to see yet another remake from Bollywood on the block.

Akshay Kumar earlier today announced his crime thriller flick Cuttputlli which is touted to be the Hindi remake of the blockbuster Tamil film Ratsasan . While some fans were left excited for the film which will see a direct-to-OTT release on September 2, other netizens weren’t that amused to see yet another remake from Bollywood on the block. Some users soon started trolling the actor for bringing out yet another adaptation, especially amidst the ongoing ‘Boycott Bollywood’ campaign.
One of the users stated, “Yaar Bollywood walo kuck to sharam karo” while another netizen tweeted, “How they gonna make it an interesting watch when everyone knows the Climax.” A netizen went on to say, “Remake pe remake but I am eager to see who will play Saravanan's role” while another user said, “Mat ruin karo bhai classics ko. kitna remakes karega aur ? Take a sabbatical.” Another user enquired, “Kitne remakes karega yeh?” Lastly a netizen furthermore stated, “Suspense kaisa jab sab ko pata ho aage kya hoga? Suspense thriller movies ka bhi remake bnate ho sharam kro.”
Sharing the teaser on his social media account, Akshay Kumar wrote, “Yeh khel power ka nahi, mind ka hai. Aur is mind game mein aap aur main…sab #Cuttputlli hain. Dropping on @DisneyPlusHS, 2nd September. Trailer out tomorrow.” The short clip shows a series of still from the crime thriller featuring the actor in a badass cop avatar. He can be seen on a challenging mission to hunt a serial killer. Akshay’s character can be seen saying in the short teaser how to catch a serial killer, one has to start thinking like them.
The plot of Cuttputlli revolves around a vicious psycho killer who traps young girls and makes them his victims and yet is able to flee from the law. Helmed by Ranjit M Tiwari, the film also stars Rakul Preet Singh. Bankrolled by Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh under their family banner Pooja Entertainment, the film is scheduled to stream on Disney+ Hotstar from September 2.
