The latest promo for the upcoming DC superhero movie has revealed that actress Rebbeca Marie Gomez aka Becxky G will be voicing the character of Khaji-Da.
Khaji-Da is the AI that powers the Blue Beetles suit and is the one responsible for choosing Jaime Reyes as the latest wearer of the Blue Beetle armor.
In the comics, Blue Beetle aka Jaime Reyes is a teenager who encounters a piece of alien technology called the Blue Scarab which permanently attaches to his body and gives him superpowers.
The Blue Beetle is a weapon created by an alien race known as The Reach, who have conquered hundreds of worlds.
From the first trailer, it is clear that Jaime Reyes is the first human to have been the blue beetle as we can see older versions of the suits in the Blue Beetles lair.
The movie also marks the first known reference to Big Belly Burgers, which is a fictional burger chain that is a constant in DC comics.
The movie will be set in the fictional city of Palmera, Palmera was created for the movie. n the comic Blue Beetles adventures take place in El Paso, Texas.
The makers of the movie wanted Blue Beelte to have a fictional city similar to Gotham and Metropolis.
Another fun throwback to the comics is the appearance of The Bug, a spacecraft used by Blue Beetle in the comics. The design of the ship was inspired by Nite Owl's ship from the iconic Watchmen comic series.
The movie also marks the debut of Carapax, In the comics, he is a ruthless mercenary whose mind is transferred into a powerfull robot thus giving him the title of the indestructible man.
The trailer makes it clear that he has been hired to find and kill Jamie and retrieve the Blue Beetle, he is played by Raoul Max Trujillo.
The movie is directed by Angel Manuel Soto who previously directed the critically hit Charm City Boys, and the screenplay is written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
Blue Beetle will hit theaters worldwide on August 18, 2023.
