Jiiva on Black
Recently, at the pre-release event of the film, the lead actor, Jiiva, revealed that the movie is a 'mind-twisting' thriller that may appeal to younger audiences. "When I first heard the script, it felt like a mind-twisting story to me. I feel like the film will help audiences open their third eye," the actor joked.
He continued, "It's a mind-twisting film with horror elements toward one point in the story. I can promise you that young audiences will enjoy it because of its brain-twisting elements. It has repeat value since you may need to watch it a few more times to understand the various perspectives hidden in the film."
The actor also added that viewers may not be able to check their phones during the movie as every frame is crucial to understanding the storyline.
Black is a remake of Coherence
As revealed earlier, Jiiva's Black is an official remake of the 2013 Hollywood sci-fi thriller Coherence. Directed by James Ward in his debut, the original film stars Emily Baldoni and Lauren Maher, and follows a woman as she experiences strange events after a comet passes.
Based on the trailer of Black, Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar play a young couple who move into a newly built gated community. Shortly after settling in, they begin to experience eerie and paranormal activities, suspecting that they are trapped. The trailer hints at their desperate attempts to escape the isolated community, suggesting a suspenseful plot that goes beyond conventional horror dramas, although the story unfolds over a single night. As per reports, the film shows the couple experiencing weird occurrences after a storm hits their area.
On the technical front, Black features the original score and soundtrack composed by Sam CS, with editing by Philomin Raj and cinematography by Gokul Benoy.
The film was recently granted U/A certification and will have a runtime of 1 hour and 58 minutes.
