Bhooth Bangla: Akshay Kumar and Tabu to reunite for Priyadarshan's horror comedy? Here's what we know

After 13 long years, Akshay Kumar is all set to reunite with director Priyadarshan for a horror comedy titled Bhooth Bangla. The announcement was made recently on social media and fans of the actor-director couldn't keep calm. Apart from Akshay, the highly anticipated film will also mark the return of the OG gang - Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani. It will be interesting to see them coming together after a long time. Tabu comes on board for Akshay Kumar's Bhooth Bangla?

Akshay and Tabu have previously worked together in Hera Pheri in 2000. Now years later, they will reportedly reunite on the horror comedy. A while ago, Pinkvilla reported that the actress loved her part and the script, which blends horror and humor with Indian Mythology. The report also said that Tabu is quite excited to join Priyadarshan's world.

The source told the portal, "Bhooth Bangla is among the most awaited films of 2026 with a solid ensemble of Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani. The process is on to get more renowned artists of Indian Film Industry on board Bhooth Bangla. The shooting is presently underway, and the makers are looking to call it a wrap on the film by April 2025."

Bhooth Bangla to turn into a franchise?

The report further suggested that Ekta Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, and Priyadarshan are in talks and are planning to turn the film into a one-of-a-kind horror comedy franchise. The source added, "Bhooth Bangla is going to be a horror comedy franchise from the OGs, who actually started this trend way back in 2007 with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 1. The Khiladi has it in his contract that the film can take the franchise route either with him in the lead or with his NOC. The makers intend to make one film in the series every two years."

Meanwhile, Akshay started shooting for the film on December 10. He shared the update on social media along with a new poster. 

Bhooth Bangla will reportedly also feature Wamiqa Gabbi as Akshay's love interest. The film will hit theatres on 2nd April 2026.
