Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 box office day 5: Kartik Aaryan's horror-comedy continues to shine, mints Rs 75 crore in 5 days

The Kartik Aaryan fronted Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is unstoppable at the box office ever since it was released on May 20. The Anees Bazmee directorial has registered glorious box office numbers of Rs 75 crore so far and is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in its second weekend.

The second installment of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise emerged as the biggest opener of 2022 with a Rs 14.11 crore collection at the box office. The horror-comedy continued making big waves on the first weekend, minting Rs 18 crore (Saturday) and Rs 23 crore (Sunday) respectively.

On Monday, however, it showed a dip because of the weekday rates and collected Rs. 10.75 cr nett. The early estimates on Tuesday(day 5) suggest Rs 9.5 – 9.75 cr collection. The total earnings so far stand at Rs 75 crore in just five days of release.

The movie is expected to run stronger in the second weekend, given its word-of-mouth appreciation. It will cross the Rs. 100 cr mark this weekend, thus emerging the third Bollywood film to go past this figure this year after Alia Bhatt ’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Vivek Agnihotri ’s The Kashmir Files.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is the sequel to Priyadarshan’s 2007 film of the same name. Besides Kartik, the film also stars Kiara Advani , Tabu , Rajpal Yadav , and Sanjay Mishra in prominent roles. The film was released alongside Kangana Ranaut ’s action thriller Dhaakad. While Kartik’s film made wonders at the box office, Kangana’s movie fell flat on the very first day of its release. Her big-budget film struggled hard to draw the audience to the ticket window and thus emerged flop of the year.

Meanwhile, Kartik’s horror-comedy has come as a much-needed respite for the Bollywood industry. It has broken the dry spell at the box office which the industry has been struggling with ever since the Covid-19 hit the country in March 2020.
