Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2: Anees Bazmee is sure fans won’t find any similarity with the original; clears air about Akshay & Vidya’s cameo
15 long years after Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan scared us with Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani are all set to return to theatres with the sequel.
Priyadarshan’s 2007 masterpiece Bhool Bhulaiyaa is undoubtedly one of the most iconic films of Bollywood. While Akshay Kumar added the perfect amount of comedy, Vidya Balan left us with goosebumps with her eerie performance as Manjulika. Well, the much awaited trailer of Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 released recently. It has a few new elements along with some old bits, including Rajpal Yadav ’s character and the spirit of Manjulika. But the sequel looks quite different than the original.
Well, in a recent chat with Mid Day, director Anees Bazmee talked about the new film and the original. He shared, “I hope there won’t be too much of a comparison because this is a different film. I was sure from the beginning that I didn’t want to make a similar film. So, we have told a new story with new actors and new energy. We have retained the comic and horror elements, and the two songs [from the predecessor]. Besides that, you won’t find any similarity. Bhool Bhulaiyaa [2007] was a psychological thriller; this is a horror comedy.”
The filmmaker also opened up about rumors which earlier suggested that Akshay and Vidya will be making a cameo in the sequel of their blockbuster. He stated, “I would have been happy to have them [on board], but the script didn’t allow us.” Well, we wish these rumors were true because we truly missed Vidya as we watched the trailer of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Her portrayal of Manjulika was epic!
Also starring Tabu , the horror comedy is arriving in theaters on 20thMay. What are your expectations from it?
