Besharam Rang: Agitated protestors set fire on effigies of Shah Rukh Khan & Deepika Padukone in Indore, demand ban on Pathaan
The activists from Veer Shivaji Group burnt effigies of actors at a road intersection in Indore. The agitated protestors also claimed that the Hindu community is feeling offended by the content of the "Besharam Rang" song, and hence, they want a ban on the release of Pathaan in Madhya Pradesh.
Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone ’s first song Besharam Rang from their upcoming film, Pathaan has stirred controversy. Earlier, a section of people on Twitter frowned upon the song being too vulgar considering Deepika’s dance moves and costumes. Even few found Shah Rukh’s romantic scenes with the actress quite objectionable. In the latest development, the activists in Indore have staged a protest against the song claiming that it hurt Hindu sentiments. And also demanded the ban on the film which is set to hit the screens on January 25.

Earlier, state home minister Narottam Mishra criticized the song saying that Deepika is clad in green and saffron clothes in an objectionable manner. He also slammed the title of the song, he said that it is made with a ‘contaminated mentality’. He has also warned the makers adding that if the mistakes are not rectified, he would reconsider releasing the film in the state.
On the other hand, Besharam Rang has also been chastised for its lack of originality. Many Twitter users have alleged that the song's beat is similar to that of Jain's Makeba. Meanwhile, the makers and actors have not yet issued any statements on these matters so far. Backed by Yash Raj Films and directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan is an upcoming action thriller also starring John Abraham in the pivotal role. Also, the movie marks Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback after four years in movies. He was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s Zero alongside Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in 2018.
