Bawaal jodi Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor to team up for Shashank Khaitan's romantic comedy? Here's what we know

For a very long time, there have been speculations about Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s collaboration for multiple projects. The two actors teamed up for the first time in Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal, receiving average reviews from critics and audiences. Up next, they are rumoured to be part of David Dhawan’s next project, however, there is no official confirmation about the same as of now. Amid this, a report has surfaced suggesting the actors will be the lead actors for Shashank Khaitan’s romantic comedy which would be produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

As per the latest report, The Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania director is in advanced discussion with Janhvi and Varun for a quintessential romantic comedy that the Hindi film industry has rooted for years. The director has also created a quirky title for the upcoming movie. Well, there are assumptions that the film may be part of the Dulhania franchise, which Alia Bhatt headlined with Varun so far.

Shashank is reportedly looking for another pair of actors to play a couple for the film. It is expected that the film will go on the floors in September 2024, and a big release will happen in 2025. Having said that, the makers have not yet reacted or confirmed the reports as of now. However, Karan had seemingly reacted to the claim that Janhvi may replace Alia in the speculated Dulhania franchise movie. “I would request members of the media to please not conjecture about the continuance of a franchise or the beginning of one! We will give details when the time and plans are formulated and fructified!” read a part of his statement. Meanwhile, the reports continue to gain momentum and fans will now have to wait for the official confirmation.

Meanwhile, Varun and Janhvi have other interesting projects in their kitty apart from the rumoured projects. Varun has Indian adaptation of Citadel alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. He has VD 18 presesnted by Atlee and Murad Khetani. The film will see him opposite Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi. On the other hand, Janhvi has Mr and Mrs Mahi co-starring Rajkummar Rao; and Devara with Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan.
