    After much speculation, the makers of Mohanlal’s highly anticipated directorial debut, Barroz, have confirmed its release date. Popular filmmaker Fazil, who directed the cult classic Manichitrathazhu and is Fahadh Faasil’s father, was invited to officially announce the release date.

    Fazil announced that Barroz will have a worldwide release on December 25, 2024.

    Barroz’s Release Date: A special connection

    Sharing the release date, the filmmaker revealed in a video message that he was shocked when Mohanlal disclosed the chosen date. Mohanlal’s blockbuster debut film Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980) and Fazil’s directorial masterpiece Manichitrathazhu (1993), both starring Mohanlal, had also released on December 25. This connection makes Barroz’s release date even more special. Wishing all the success for Mohanlal’s upcoming directorial venture, Fazil concluded the heartfelt video message.

    Mohanlal, who shared the video, thanked Fazil and wrote,“Thank you, dear Pachikka, for your heartfelt prayers and blessings.”

    Earlier, the makers exclusively unveiled the trailer for Mohanlal’s Barroz alongside the screening of Kanguva in theaters, and it became an instant hit among audiences. The trailer’s visual effects and intriguing style captivated viewers, leaving them excited to witness this visual spectacle on the big screen. The makers are expected to release the trailer to the public very soon.

    Directed by Mohanlal, the film revolves around Barroz, who has been tasked with protecting Vasco da Gama’s hidden treasure for over four centuries. His sole duty is to ensure the wealth is passed on to a true descendant of da Gama.

    The upcoming fantasy drama is based on the novel Barroz: Guardian of Da Gama’s Treasure by Jijo Punnoose. The film, which will be released in 3D formats, is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner. The cast includes Maya, Sara Vega, Tuhin Menon, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, and Guru Somasundaram in key roles.
