Ayan Mukerji reveals how Alia Bhatt & Ranbir Kapoor’s love story affected Brahmāstra; ‘I used to get insecure’
Actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor shared the silver screen for the very first time in Brahmāstra. Director Ayan Mukerji has now revealed why he was worried about them getting married before his film released.
Alia Bhatt had a crush on Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor for the longest time. On an episode of Koffee With Karan, she had admitted that she wants to marry him one day. Well, her wish was fulfilled this year. The two fell in love while working together on Ayan Mukerji ’s film Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva and after 5 years of dating, tied the knot a few months ago. They are now expecting their first child together.
In a recent chat with Bollywood Bubble, Ayan shared how their relationship affected their characters and the film. He revealed, “Their personal life, to some extent, helped the film relationship as well because it was a very love at first sight, predestined kind of relationship. Very instant.” He stated that Alia and Ranbir also clicked instantly in real life and it did not take them very long to fit with each other.
But Ayan went on to admit, “I used to get very insecure as well, I’ll admit, because sometimes you know if people see the couple too much off-screen, then they won’t enjoy them on-screen. So for a long time I thought that if they get married before Brahmāstra comes out, maybe it’ll take away some excitement from the film. I used to feel that way, you know like it was a thing. But actually eventually everything has added to everything and it’s worked out very positively.”
Well, the film arrived in theatres earlier this month and Ranbir’s on-screen chemistry with Alia is as breathtaking as it is in real life. Fans loved seeing them together and can’t wait for the next two installments in the Brahmāstra trilogy.
