Composer Ramesh Narayan has sparked a huge controversy by refusing a felicitation from actor Asif Ali. Ramesh's unexpected behaviour towards Asif Ali has shocked many, drawing considerable criticism online.
The controversy unfolded at the trailer launch event for the upcoming anthology, Manorathangal. This film is based on the short stories by iconic Malayalam writer MT Vasudevan Nair and stars leading actors of Malayalam cinema, including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, Biju Menon, and Asif Ali. During the event, all cast and crew members were honoured with mementoes. Asif Ali was designated to present the memento to Ramesh Narayan. However, Ramesh's reaction left everyone stunned.
Ramesh Narayan refused to acknowledge Asif Ali and openly objected to being honoured by the young actor. Instead, he took the memento from Asif and called seasoned filmmaker Jayarajan Nair to present it to him. Jayarajan Nair, though initially hesitant, followed Ramesh's instructions without showing any reservations.
The situation was awkward for Asif, who maintained his composure and stepped aside to let Ramesh proceed as he wished.
Ramesh has composed the music for Swargam Thurakkuna Samayam, directed by Jayarajan Nair, in the anthology series. The issue is rapidly gaining traction online, with many questioning the reason behind Ramesh's perceived rudeness towards Asif.
Neither Asif nor Ramesh has reacted to the controversy yet.
