Asif Ali's Kishkindha Kaandam OTT release expected on this date
After a solid theatrical run, Kishkindha Kaandam is heading for its OTT debut earlier than anticipated, much to the excitement of fans.
Kishkindha Kaandam
Actor Asif Ali has been enjoying a rewarding streak, with his recent films earning both critical and commercial success. While he may not deliver the industry's biggest box office openings, he's certainly carving out a niche for himself with experimental narratives, nuanced performances, and atmospheric films. His latest release, Kishkindha Kaandam, is no exception.
After a successful run in theatres, Kishkindha Kaandam is set to make its streaming debut sooner than anticipated. In recent years, streaming audiences have often waited longer to watch new Malayalam releases from the comfort of their homes. For instance, Asif Ali's previous film, Thalavan, took over 15 weeks to land on streaming platforms, despite most new South Indian films hitting OTT services within five weeks of their theatrical release.
Given the Malayalam film industry's growing reliance on extended theatrical runs and reduced dependency on streaming revenue, many expected Kishkindha Kaandam to follow a similar pattern. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
According to sources, Kishkindha Kaandam will arrive on streaming platforms much sooner than predicted. The film, which premiered in cinemas on September 12 during the Onam celebrations, is expected to be available for digital streaming as early as November 1.
Disney+ Hotstar has reportedly secured the streaming rights, while the satellite rights have gone to Asianet.
Adding to the excitement surrounding Kishkindha Kaandam’s OTT release, subtitlist Vivek Ranjith expressed his enthusiasm on social media. "Thrilled to have worked on the English subtitles for one of the best Malayalam movies of recent times, #KishkindhaKaandam, for its OTT and festival versions, as well as the English translation of the screenplay. Thank you, #DinjithAyyathan and #BahulRamesh for the opportunity," Ranjith tweeted.
Kishkindha Kaandam is directed by Dinjith Ayyathan, and also stars Vijayaraghavan and Aparna Balamurali in key roles.
