Actor Arun Vijay’s upcoming movie Vanangaan is set to release during the Pongal holiday, a major festival in Tamil Nadu. Producer Suresh Kamatchi confirmed the much-anticipated release date on Tuesday, signalling a strategic move to capitalize on the festive season.
Arun Vijay seems to have high hopes for Vanangaan, especially as he looks to end a rough patch in his career, with recent films failing to achieve either critical acclaim or commercial success. This film, written and directed by Bala, is expected to provide him with the breakthrough he needs.
The production of Vanangaan has already been completed. Arun Vijay and his family recently attended a special premiere, and he was thrilled with the final outcome. In a heartfelt post, Arun described the film as one of the most significant projects in his career.
“With a content mind and a heavy heart, my director Bala sir, ever since I entered the film industry, I have been a fan of your works, admired and loved you, and longed for an opportunity like this. Even during our shoot, I didn’t fully realize the impact of the story. But seeing it now on the silver screen, there are no words to express my feelings. I salute you for making my parents swell with pride. I have no doubt that Vanangaan will be a very important part of my film journey,” Arun wrote, expressing his gratitude and faith in the film’s success.
Interestingly, Vanangaan was originally launched with Tamil superstar Suriya in the lead role. The announcement had created significant buzz, as it marked a reunion between Suriya and Bala after over 20 years. However, due to creative differences, Suriya exited the project after shooting for a few days, and Bala subsequently cast Arun Vijay in the lead role.
