According to industry trackers, Amaran opened to impressive numbers on its first day, earning approximately Rs 35 crore at the box office. After bringing in Rs 40.5 crore domestically over its first two days, Amaran exceeded its Day 1 earnings on Day 3, grossing Rs 21.75 crore on Saturday. The film has maintained strong performance across nearly all regions. Domestically, Amaran has now crossed Rs 62 crore. Additionally, the movie entered the prestigious 100 crore club in just three days, raking in a total of Rs 109.63 crore globally. The film has also surpassed the lifetime collections of Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja and Sundar’s horror drama Aranmanai 4, securing the fifth position on the list of highest-grossing Tamil films of the year. Given its glowing reception and robust box office performance, the film is expected to cross Rs 200 crore by the end of next weekend. The Tamil version enjoyed an impressive occupancy rate of 84.41%.
Interestingly, Sivakarthikeyan has now joined the ranks of top stars Vijay and Rajinikanth as Tamil actors whose films have crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in just three days.
Rajinikanth heaps praise on Amaran
Superstar Rajinikanth, who recently watched the war biopic, invited the cast and crew, including Sivakarthikeyan, to his residence in Chennai. The official X account of Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal International Films, which bankrolled the film, shared a few heartwarming photos of the Amaran team with actor Sivakarthikeyan and director Rajkumar Periasamy standing alongside the Tamil superstar. The caption read, “Rajinikanth watched his friend Kamal Haasan’s production, Amaran, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and starring Sivakarthikeyan,” emphasizing the superstar's admiration for the film.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran tells the real-life story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, who was martyred in Shopian in 2014.
