All We Imagine As Light OTT release date confirmed: When, where to watch Payal Kapadia's Cannes winner

Disney+Hotstar on Friday confirmed the digital premiere date of the critically acclaimed All We Imagine As Light, written and directed by Payal Kapadia. The film will become available for streaming on its platform on January 3. 

All We Imagine As Light made all heads turn when it bagged the prestigious Grand Prix, not the Palme d'Or, at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where it had its global premiere. Since then, the film has gone on to bag several international acclaims. Recently, even former US President Barack Obama mentioned it at the top of his list of the top 10 movies of 2024 that he considered the best, adding to its global popularity. 

All We Imagine As Light was an international production, starring some of the well-known talents from India's independent cinema. The movie stars Kani Kusruti and Divya Prabha in the lead roles. Set against the background of Mumbai, the film revolves around the struggles and triumphs of these women. Even though it is set in Mumbai, the film is predominantly in Malayalam. 

There was a lot of public outcry when All We Imagine As Light was not selected as India's official entry for the 97th Academy Awards. The jury had instead picked Laapataa Ladies, which failed to make the cut in the final shortlist. However, the film is competing in all major categories.
