Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi to arrive in cinemas in February; Shruti Hassan's first look from Salaar out!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali ’s Gangubai Kathiawadi has announced its arrival in cinemas on February 25, after multiple delays due to the pandemic. The movie starring Alia Bhatt in the lead had revealed its teaser 11 months ago before the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic struck.

Additionally, the film is all set to have its much awaited world premiere at the prestigious 72nd Berlin International Film Festival which kicks off on 10th of February. Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about the true story Ganga Harjivandas who was sold into prostitution at a young age and soon came to be running the red light area in Kamathipura with powerful connections in the underworld.

Gangubai Kathiawadi also stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, and Seema Pahwa in key roles while Ajay Devgn is all set to appear in a cameo.

The movie has been jointly produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada.

Exactly one year ago, the makers of Salaar welcomed Shruti Hassan aboard as the leading lady of the film. On her 36th birthday today, the makers have now released the actress’ first look from the movie.

Shruti has been introduced as playing Aadya in the film which being led by Prahas and helmed by filmmaker Prashanth Neel. The picture from the movie shared, Sheruti can be seen sitting in the back of a truck in a brown attire and thinking intently. This a big diversion from Prabhas ’ ready-for-action looks we have seen so far.

The film began shooting January 2021 and was announced for arrival in cinemas on April 14, 2022. The filmmaker have managed to keep the plot details under wraps but the action thriller has already piqued the curiosity of a number of fans who can’t wait to see what the project holds.
