Alia Bhatt arrived on Darlings set sick one day; what happened next will blow your mind
Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt delivered yet another versatile and powerful performance in her recently released dark comedy Darlings, helmed by Jasmeet K. Reen.
One of the most talented and sought after actresses of Bollywood today, Alia Bhatt is currently soaring high on the success of her recently released film Darlings . Also starring Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew, the dark comedy took the digital route and released on streaming giant Netflix last Friday. Not only were the makers lauded for dealing with the topic of domestic violence sensitively, but even the performances left audiences wanting more. It was a full package-- entertaining, impactful and intense.
In a recent chat with Bollywood Life, director Jasmeet K. Reen revealed an unknown fact about one particularly impactful scene in the film where Alia’s character Badru saved the day. She was quoted saying, “Alia was ill one day, but she still came for the shoot. I remember meeting her, she looked unwell and that day and she had almost one page of dialogue to deliver. I asked if she'll be ok and she said she would.”
They rolled the camera and the director felt that Alia delivered the scene like a pro that she is. But something beautiful happened that day. Jasmeet revealed, “The entire set stood and clapped, not because she was unwell, but because they loved what she did. Alia is a positive person, looks at the job at hand, and lives in the moment.”
Darlings, which also marks Alia’s debut as a producer, follows the story of an abusive alcoholic husband, his wife and her mother. While Alia aka Badru initially believes that she can change her husband Hamza, played by Vijay, one fine day she puts her foot down and sets out for revenge. A class act!
